a dreamer is one who can only find his way by moonlight, and his punishment is that he sees the dawn before the rest of the world.
for years i’ve had this recurring lucid dream. i am not sure how exactly how to translate it as i don’t see any inherent deeper meaning. i am not sure if it happens before, during or after major events or changes in my life and i am not sure if it represents a person, place or thing. what i do know is that i’ve been dreaming it for years and once again i dreamed that dream last night..
every passion borders on the chaotic..
the realities of our life are usually more entertaining than our fictions. the ways we choose to negotiate our versions of good, bad, right and wrong are often comical at best. we take great care of our self-delusions and seek out that place where we can just float.. or maybe i’m speaking about myself again and this has nothing to do with any of the observations i’ve made..

while film begins to make a comeback, kodak struggles to keep up with the times..
the kodak company was established in 1881 by george eastman. he came up with the name with his mother during an anagram game, and like the letter ‘K’ as it seemed strong and incisive he wanted to adhere to the three concepts of a name being short, easy to pronounce and something that would only be associated with what it was. this he definitely achieved, with the name he created still being one of the major firms associated with photography.
however, it seems that the company is having trouble adapting to this new and rapidly changing age of technology. this is definitely something that is not easy to do, with almost everyone owning a digital camera that does not require film. the changes do not stop there either, with advanced computers that photographers can view their photographs on and print from, as well as do countless other things like communicate with friends, play partypoker and run websites. if a company is going to survive nowadays, it must be able to move with the times and it does not seem like kodak is able to flourish in this environment. companies like panasonic and sony are more in touch with people’s modern-day desires and are overtaking kodak.
the irony lies in the fact that there appears to be a subtle revival of film, with a number of camera shops opening up all over the place. photographers are slowly returning to the once-popular medium of developing film, and processing labs are beginning to notice a positive difference in their sales. hopefully kodak can be salvaged. it is one of the best-loved and most well-known names in the photography industry and it would be a shame to lose such a high-profile contributor.

we fear doing too little when we should do more. Then atone by doing too much, when perhaps we should do less.
so apparently there is a downside to this “follow your bliss” stuff i’ve been selling. there is so much that moves me, so much i am interested in that i find some things being put to the wayside as i move from topic to topic, person to person, place to place. i’m being split into so many pieces that i am not giving my all to any of these things i love. that has to change immediately.. all compromise is based on give and take, but there can be no give and take on fundamentals. any compromise on mere fundamentals is a surrender. for it is all give and no take.
i’ve learned that things change, people change, and it doesn’t mean you forget the past or try to cover it up. it simply means you move on and treasure the memories. letting go doesn’t mean giving up, it means accepting that some things weren’t meant to be..

don’t wait until everything is just right. it will never be perfect. there will always be challenges, obstacles and less than perfect conditions. so what. get started now. with each step you take, you will grow stronger and stronger, more and more skilled, more and more self-confident and more and more successful..

i’m sitting on a train and i’m looking at the window. i’m looking at the window because i can’t look out of the window. there is nothing out there to look at, just blackness and what could be a light that streams by so quickly its more of a distracting blur than anything else. i’m looking at the window. at this pane of plexiglass that was once new and devoid of scratches. it once had the perfect amount of insulation around its edges and it had just the right type of clarity to allow for the perfect view… into nothing.
i’m looking at the glass and i see the reflection of myself. i see this light that streams by so quickly that its more of a distracting blur than anything else. i see once perfect insulation.
i am blessed to know some of the most amazing human beings on this planet. no exaggeration. and in the knowing and the speaking there are moments when the most profound of information is shared by one of us to the other. this particular exchange had me sitting quietly and the lovely maya chit-chattering away…as she puts it. i just had to place her words here for others to see.
ra: maya, talk to me.
ra: i’m drowning in a thought stream.
maya: Share….
ra: just on the overall rules of the game.
ra: its like people think its about living before dying
ra: or living instead of dying
ra: or living.
ra: and i realize living isn’t really a choice. i mean sure we can leap off a ledge and hope the impact turns the lights out….but even that isn’t a choice.
